Abstract

Matters such as the extent to which inhabitants of the city use the urban space, what kind of meanings they load and how they experience are very important to determine the identity and quality of a place. The coastal parks, which are a major part of the ecological system, are very important areas for the cities. At the same time, the coasts that contribute to the quality of life are important resource values that establish the coastal-human relationship and meet the increasing recreation needs of the city people. Especially these areas are important points of attraction with the effect of water. For this reason, they have an intensive use.
In this study, Istanbul Fatih Koca Mustafa Paşa Coastal Park was determined as a research area. With the determination of the current situation, potential and user satisfaction levels in terms of recreational care of the area which has an intensive use and urban identity was tried to be identified. As a result of various observations such as monitoring, investigation, users’ needs for space, it is determined that the area urgently should be reviewed and necessary arrangements should made to provide better service to the users. Also the problems, expectations and potentials of the area have been determined. According to the results of the research, proposals were brought to the solution.
